Private Dancer
Guest Exhibition: Ringier Collection
The exhibition, Private Dancer, was put together to mark the 75th birthday of publisher and art collector Michael Ringier. The title of the exhibition refers to the 1984 album of the same name by Tina Turner, the acclaimed musician and close friend of the family.
The exhibition focuses on works from the Ringier Collection which, due to their dimensions, materiality or fragility, cannot be shown on the company’s premises or private rooms, where works from the collection are presented in regularly changing exhibitions. Some of the works on display here have therefore not left storage for a long time and have been supplemented in the exhibition with smaller works by artists from the collection, like Laura Owens, Rosemarie Trockel, Sturtevant, Cyprien Gaillard, Philippe Parreno, Ed Atkins, Fischli/Weiss, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Urs Fischer, Andreas Gursky, Richard Prince, Jean-Frédéric Schnyder, among others.
The selection of works was compiled by Beatrix Ruf, curator of the collection from 1996 to 2015, and Rahel Blättler, collection manager and curator of the collection.
